Project MALES will host its first plática of Fall 2024 on Thursday, September 26th, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. CT in room SZB 4.102 of the George I. Sánchez Building (SZB). We have the honor of being joined by Enrique Aguayo, who will discuss how to develop effective helping skills to enhance mentoring.
Enrique also occasionally facilitates Resolution Counseling groups at LifeWorks where he assists adult men create and rebuild safe, non-violent, healthy relationships through a strengths-based, collaborative, and compassionate approach. Enrique values promoting youth agency and empowerment from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, mindfulness-based approach. When Enrique is not providing counseling services to clients, you will more than likely find him working on his passion project: launching his own line of accordions.
Lastly, Enrique is a proud first-gen Bobcat. He earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Texas State University in 2016. He was also a level three PACE MAC Peer Mentor from 2014-2016 and was voted Most Likely to Help during his final 2016 Banquet.
Pláticas are held monthly during the academic year and highlight faculty and community leaders whose work centers and/or impacts boys and young men of color through research and practice.
