Project MALES will host its last plática of Spring 2025 on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. CT in room SZB 2.814 of the George I. Sánchez Building (SZB). We are honored to have invited Jorge Antonio Renaud, who will discuss carcerality in the US, the importance of community building, and the necessity of addressing injustice in the legal system.
As a Senior Policy Analyst at the Prison Policy Initiative, he authored numerous studies examining ways to alleviate this country’s obsession with incarceration and disproportionate sentences. Jorge has published poetry and essays across the country. He was also previously incarcerated for over 27 years. Jorge has been an integral part of Reenvision Justicia’s network of Latinx organizers, lawyers, and policy analysts for years and a regular and popular speaker at LatinoJustice annual convenings of Latinxs and the Criminal Justice system.
Pláticas are held monthly during the academic year and highlight faculty and community leaders whose work centers and/or impacts boys and young men of color through research and practice.
Food will be provided from 5:00 – 5:30 P.M. CDT. We invite all UT students, faculty, staff, and community members to join us.
